About

Global Youth Fund is a Vancouver-based charity that provides young people with training and support to become effective leaders in a pluralistic world.

We engage youth in a democratic process to design and select their own actions for change.  We then support them in achieving the goals they have set for themselves.

Our innovative model of youth engagement is based on the philosophy of collective wisdom - the idea that groups of people – under the right circumstances – can make smarter decisions than the smartest individuals in the group.

Mission:
Global Youth Fund’s mission is to invest in young people’s solutions for our changing planet.

Through global dialogue and peer-to-peer learning, we help youth identify and implement the best ideas for creating positive change.

We act in the belief that the best way to develop young leaders is to follow them.

Our core program, Changemakers, teaches collaborative skills, group leadership, and prepares young people to juggle competing interests – skills necessary for effective leadership in the 21st century.

Who Benefits?

The Global Youth Fund brings innovation to the fields of education and philanthropy. It seeks to benefit the following groups:

Youth
GYF’s democratic process gives every young person a meaningful role to play as changemaker, whether they are the natural “leader types” or not.

Charities and NGOs
Participants in our Changemakers program will often spread innovation, raise money and create awareness for organizations that are creating positive change in the world.

Educators
GYF provides curriculum and tools to educators to teach young people not just about global issues but how to work collaboratively and achieve common goals.

Citizen Sector
GYF will help bring “open source philanthropy” to the citizen sector, harness “collective wisdom” for positive ends, and provide global citizens a forum to set priorities – in a purely democratic fashion.

Global Youth Fund was founded in 2005 by Charles Tsai and Amy Eldon with support from the Creative Visions Foundation.
